Innovations of culture - During the last week the measure, devoted to 860-th anniversary of Sheikh Nizami were conducted in grate Gyanja. The measure took a week. It began indifferent institutions and organisations, in Gyanja state drama theatre, and came to end by visiting of the poet's tomb at entrance of Gyanja. The wreathes were put in front of monuments of grate Nizami in different parts of the city.

Zerdabi theatre of Nizami`s poetry opened its season with performance of the play "Love legend", written at the base of "Motives of Nizami Gyanjevi`s poetry" by the dramatist Altay Mamedov.

Gyanja state drama theatre opened its 80-th season, performing "Oktay Eloglu" by C.Cabbarli.

The seminar on subject "Modern libraries and their duties" was conducted in the Centralised Library System of Gyanja city. Representatives of Gyanja, Khanlar, Gyoranboy and Shamukh regions took part in the seminar. The seminar was organised by Azeri State Library by M.F. Akhundov and the Education Centre of the Embassy of USA in Azerbaijan. All the city community, including the head of the executive power took part in the measures.

The union of independent journalists of Gyanja was created in our4 city recently. The centre was formed by the American human organisation "Internews" and supplied with a new equipment. The centre is meant for writers, who are just beginning to work with mass media. The director of Azeri representatives of "Internews" Mr. John Boight appeared with an introduction speech at the opening.

The venerable poet of Gyanja Farida khanum Aliyarbeyli lead the number of her poems of cycle of eight, at which she worked during last years, to three hundred. The poet's poem "When waters turn turbid" was discussed in Gyanjabasar branch of The poets Union of Azerbaijan.

The festival of Jewish books was conducted in Nizami-Pushkin library.

In Drama Theatre of Gyanja there was a ceremonial party devoted to 5 October, the Teachers` Day.
