NIZAMI-PUSHKIN LIBRARY

The building of the library is an ancient historical monument of XIX century. Its real name is Huseyniyye, as it is written in inscription at the Sanctuary.
It is suggested that the monument, which works as a library, was built in 1825 in form of "T" letter and it is called 'Tatlar" (Tats) mosque. The place for building of this mosque was donated by Sabiyya kkhanum, who was the daughter of prince Bahman Mirza, from her own property. Prince Bahman Mirza was born in Iran in 1811, he was an Azeri. In 1848 he escaped from the palace discords to Russia, in 1851 he was naturalised by Russia, the state paid him annual pension. In 1871 he wrote the historical book "Shukurnameyi-Shahanshah" ("Shahinshah`s letter of thanks").
There are three inscriptions at the sanctuary of the monument. It is written there, that the sanctuary was decorated with inscription in 1883 by Akhund Asadulla, the teacher and mullah from Tebriz.
During very long time the monument was used as a mosque. In May 1899 the rooms of Huseyniyye were used as a library, organised in honour of 100-th anniversary of A.S.Pushkin. Because of 840-th jubilee of N.Ganjavi and for it was earlier the library of Pushkin, it became Nizami and Pushkin library. The works of Nizami and Pushkin and different books, written about them are collected here.
Now the library has the book fund consists of 8244 copies. It has 2503 readers. And 75 public measures of different topics took place in this library.
